David Austin Rosary
Quintessentially English, the rose has always been the best-loved
of all garden flowers. Through years of breeding, the world famous
David Austin has combined the flowers and growth reminiscent of the
richly fragrant ‘Old Rose’ with versatility and summer long flowering. The
rosary at ‘Le Manoir’ with the assistance of David Austin was designed
and created in 1994, the colour and scent of which lasts right through
from May until November. Based on a formal French parterre design of
the 17th century, it boasts some 360 English Roses including, Damasks,
Bourbons, Albas and Gallicas arranged in such a way so as to maximise
their beauty.
There are also a number of roses that compliment the herbaceous
borders and adorn the trees with cascades of colour. Due to the
increased demand and number of requests from our visitors we are now
able to offer a small number of roses for sale. The
varieties are generally limited to those that are in the garden, giving
the visitor a chance to see the potential of established bushes,
whether planted together or separately providing drifts of colour that
would enhance any garden.
