Le Manoir ‘Accents’
For
2006 we are holding a series of Open House Parties to cater for
individuals, couples and groups that share common interests. These will
include Painting, Gardening, Golf and Cuisine.
Accent on Painting.
Our
part of southern Brittany has become a haven for many international
artists, no doubt attracted by the countryside and unspoiled River
Vilaine which flows close to Le Manoir. To coincide with the opening of
our Art Gallery we will be hosting Country House Weekends during which
guests can receive first class instruction and mentoring from amongst
others, Adrian Whittlsea formerly Senior Art Master at Downside School
who now lives and paints locally. We will be delighted to send
you further details of the programmes available as well as dates.
Partners who do not wish to paint can make use of all the other
activities that we offer.
Accent on Gardening.
As
you will have seen on this website, Le Manoir is surrounded by ‘Le
Jardin Anglais’ one of the finest privately owned gardens in France.
With some 400 David Austin roses as well as plants from all over the
world the gardens are a haven of peace and beauty. Our Accent on
Gardening House Parties will include tours of the gardens highlighting
plants and their maintenance, rose growing and pruning as well as tours
of other local gardens. Your hosts will include Eric Bellec, Head
Gardener and depending on availability, Alan Mason, the television
gardener who initially built the gardens 18 years ago. All delegates
will receive a David Austin rose of their choice, as well as cuttings
from the gardens.
Accent on Golf.
We are fortunate that within striking distance we have some great
golf courses. Our particular favourites are La Bretesche, a parkland
course that meanders around a stunning Chateau, and La Baule, one of
the finest seaside courses in Europe. We organize at least two rounds,
together with prizes and transportation if required. Again those
partners who do not play can relax in the Spa, gardens or enjoy the
other activities available.
Accent on Cuisine.
Here we concentrate on local dishes, guests will enjoy an early
morning trip to the local market to purchase vegetables, fish and
cheeses and will produce, together with Chef, a ‘Gala Dinner’. Our
usual wine-tasting will be extended to include lectures on the nuances
of French wines. Again partners who do not wish to join in are free to
enjoy all other facilities. |
